6-stage hybrid series/parallel diode wavefolder in 4 HP, with simultaneous main (series) and alternate (parallel) outputs, voltage-controlled fold and shape parameters, symmetry control for asymmetric folding, and an integrated soft clipper that limits outputs to approximately 10 Vpp.508
Capabilities 2
Wavefolderwavefolder
6-stage hybrid series/parallel diode wavefolder with simultaneous main (series) and alternate (parallel) outputs, voltage-controlled fold and overdrive shape, symmetry knob, and soft clipping to ~10 Vpp.508
Linear CV control over the input VCA preceding the wavefolder. Knob range is restricted to +5 V; external CV can drive harder.508
Shape CV
cv
—
CV control over the overdrive circuit. At minimum shape knob: 0 V = no drive, +5 V = maximum drive. Negative voltages attenuate the output.508
Signal In 1
mixed
—
DC-coupled signal input; mixed with Signal In 2. Accepts audio and/or CV including DC offsets for asymmetric folding.508
Signal In 2

DC-coupled signal input; mixed with Signal In 1. Accepts audio and/or CV including DC offsets for asymmetric folding.508
Outputs (2)
Alternate Output
audio
—
Parallel topology output: fold levels and directions vary between stages, producing a more mellow sound than the main series output for most input signals.508
Main Output
audio
-5V to 5V
Series topology output with classic wavefolding action. Output is clamped to approximately ±5 V (10 Vpp) by the integrated soft clipper.508

Behavior
Fold
knob
≤5V
Controls the gain of the input VCA preceding the 6-stage wavefolder. As the level increases, more fold stages engage, generating more harmonics. At minimum, the input is fully attenuated. Knob range limited to +5 V equivalent; additional CV range available via the Fold CV input.508
Shape
knob
—
Controls the overdrive circuit following the wavefolding stages. At minimum, drive is disabled giving classic wavefolder tones. Increasing the setting gradually shapes folded waveforms into pulses for a harsher sound with more harmonic content.508
Symmetry
knob
-5V – 5V
Adds a variable DC offset to the signal inputs. Turning away from centre causes asymmetric wavefolding — either positive or negative half of the waveform folds more. Also useful to re-centre folding if the input signal has a DC offset.508
