QPAS
The Quad Peak Animation System (QPAS) is a stereo multimode filter module utilizing four state-variable filter cores, with Low Pass, High Pass, Band Pass, and Smile Pass outputs simultaneously available, a pre-filter stereo exponential VCA, and Radiate controls that spread and animate resonant peaks in stereo.236

- Stereo Processingstereo-processing
- Supports Mono-to-Mono, Mono-to-Stereo, Stereo-to-Mono, and Stereo-to-Stereo operation via jack normalizations on inputs and outputs.236
- Voltage-Controlled Amplifiervca
- Pre-filter exponential VCA with combo pot and CV input. Allows input drive control and encourages exploration of filter ringing with dampened signals.236
Jacks 12 — 6 in / 6 out
| Name | Signal | Voltage | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inputs (6) | |||
| !!¡¡ Input Left | mixed | — | Gate or audio rate modulation input affecting nearly all parts of the circuit. Each !!¡¡ input affects two of the four peaks, one per pair.236 |
| !!¡¡ Input Right | mixed | — | 236 |
| Level CV Input | cv | — | CV input for the Level (pre-filter exponential VCA) control.236 |
| Q CV Input | cv | — | 236 |
| Radiate-L CV Input | cv | — | CV input for Radiate-L. Normalled to Radiate-R CV Input so patching only here modulates both Radiate controls.236 |
| Radiate-R CV Input | cv | — | CV input for Radiate-R. Normalled to Radiate-L CV Input.236 |
| Outputs (6) | |||
| BP Left Output | audio | — | 236 |
| BP Right Output | audio | — | Right Band Pass filter output. Normalled to BP Left Output.236 |
| HP Left Output | audio | — | 236 |
| HP Right Output | audio | — | Right High Pass filter output. Normalled to HP Left Output.236 |
| LP Left Output | audio | — | Left Low Pass filter output. When Right LP is unpatched, all four peaks appear here.236 |
| LP Right Output | audio | — | Right Low Pass filter output. Normalled to LP Left Output.236 |
Parameters 8
| Name | Type | Range | Behavior |
|---|---|---|---|
| Frequency | knob | — | Sets the base cutoff frequency for all four filter cores and all filter types simultaneously. All Radiate offsets are relative to this value.236 |
| Level | knob | — | Controls the level of the incoming signal to the pre-filter exponential VCA. Acts as an attenuator for the Level CV input when patched. Can also be used to adjust input drive; with higher Q settings, lower input levels allow resonance to dominate.236 |
| Q | menu_setting | — | Single Q (resonance) control for all four filter cores. Feeds Band Pass outputs back into inputs. At lower settings peaks are rounded; at higher settings peaks become sharp and resonant. Zero resonance is reached around 9:00; below that, negative resonance attenuates the peaks. Does not self-oscillate. High Q with triggers creates pingable filter ringing.236 |
| Q CV Input Attenuverter | knob | — | 236 |
| Radiate-L | knob | — | Spreads the two left-channel filter peaks relative to the main FREQ cutoff, controlling stereo image width and peak animation in the left output. CV input has an attenuverter.236 |
| Radiate-L CV Input Attenuverter | knob | — | 236 |
| Radiate-R | knob | — | Spreads the two right-channel filter peaks relative to the main FREQ cutoff, controlling stereo image width and peak animation in the right output. CV input normalled to Radiate-L CV input.236 |
| Radiate-R CV Input Attenuverter | knob | — | 236 |
