steady-state-fate/stereo-dipole
Stereo Dipole
Quad Multi-Mode VCF featuring two identical dual-peak filter channels with single (POLE) and dual-peak (DIPOLE) outputs per channel, plus a combined quad-peak mono DIPOLE AB output. Each channel has HP/BP/LP mode selection, DRIVE, FREQ, SPREAD, and RESONANCE controls with serial/parallel routing between POLE and DIPOLE stages. Stereo CV inputs allow simultaneous control of all four filter cores.413

Parameters 11
| Name | Type | Range | Behavior |
|---|---|---|---|
| DIPOLE HP/BP/LP Switch | switch | — | Selects the filter response type (HP, BP, or LP) for the DIPOLE dual-peak output on a given channel.413 |
| DRIVE | knob | — | Pre-filter input drive. At minimum, signal passes without gain. Light use alters spectra and boosts low-level signals. Heavy use pushes signal into soft clipping and hard clipping overdrive, especially with high resonance. Useful for adding harmonics to sine and triangle waves before filtering.413 |
| FM LVL | knob | — | Bipolar attenuator controlling the combined sum of ST-FM and channel-specific FM CV inputs going into each filter channel.413 |
| FREQ | knob | — | Controls the cutoff frequency of both the Primary (POLE) and Secondary (DIPOLE) VCF filters on a channel. STEREO FREQ controls all four filters simultaneously with approximately ±10 octave range.413 |
| POLE HP/BP/LP Switch | switch | — | Selects the filter response type (HP, BP, or LP) for the POLE single-peak output on a given channel.413 |
| RCV LVL | menu_setting | — | Unipolar master attenuator for ST-RES; summed with channel-specific RES CV inputs post attenuators.413 |
| RES | knob | — | Controls resonance for both POLE and DIPOLE filter peaks simultaneously on a channel. Capable of self-oscillation far beyond the audio band in any mode. Voltage controlled via RES-A/B CV inputs.413 |
| SERIAL/PARALLEL Switch | switch | — | Routes the DIPOLE filter stage in serial or parallel with the POLE filter. Serial provides steeper slopes (e.g., 24dB/oct with matching types) and tonal oscillation variations; parallel enables notch filtering and other topological combinations.413 |
| SPREAD | knob | -5octave – 5octave | Sets the secondary peak cutoff frequency offset relative to the primary FREQ. Center position matches secondary cutoff to primary; rotating offset the secondary peak by up to ±5 octaves. Also accepts 1V/OCT input for accurate tracking of secondary peak.413 |
| STEREO FREQ | knob | -10octave – 10octave | Controls cutoff frequency of all four filter cores simultaneously. Range is approximately ±10 octaves — twice the range of individual FREQ/SPREAD controls. Total usable range is approximately 17 octaves (0.3Hz to 50kHz).413 |
| STEREO RES | knob | — | Bipolar control of resonance for all four filter cores simultaneously. Can increase or reduce resonance independently of per-channel RES settings. Default position is center (no effect on current resonance level).413 |
